Gadsden City High junior guard Brooke Burns scored her 1,000th point earlier this season and was honored prior to the GCHS/Buckhorn game on Jan. 15.

Burns, who has 1,367 career points, currently is averaging 19.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists while shooting 91 percent at the free throw line.

The Lady Titans currently are ranked sixth in Class 7A.

“Brooke has been a big part of our program since the 7th grade,” said GCHS girls coach Jeremy Brooks. “She has grown into one of our leaders and it has been fun watching her develop into a solid all-around player. Brooke can do it all, but her best quality is her work ethic. Brooke continues to work hard to improve her game. That is the reason I think she’ll be so good at the next level.”
