Lady Warriors win tennis sectionals

The Westbrook Christian girls tennis team swept the double competition and won five of six singles matches to win the Class 1A-3A, Section 4 tennis tournament on Tuesday (Apr. 15) at the Dana Loconto Tennis Complex in Gadsden.

The Lady Warriors will compete at the Class 1A-3A state tournament on Apr. 21-22 in Montgomery. 

Westbrook totaled 61 points at sectionals, followed by Donoho with 39, Faith Christian with 24 points, Plainview with fourth with 13 and Victory Christian with seven. 

In singles action for Westbrook, No. 1 Reagan King defeated Abigail Hampton, 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 6-3; No. 2 Wells Ford defeated Brooke Brascho, 6-0, 6-1; No. 3 Camille Fink (Donoho) defeated Sarah McCauley, 6-4, 6-4; No. 4 Alex Dugger defeated Whitney Brown, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4; No. 5 Taylor Cornutt defeated Kirin Heathcock, 7-5, 6-4; and No. 6 Alley Mc Sizemore defeated Sara Mason, 6-2, 6-1.

In doubles play for Westbrook, No. 1 King/Ford defeated Bidikov/Brascho, 6-0, 6-0; No. 2 McCauley/Cornutt defeated Crosby/Emerson, 6-2, 7-5; and No. 3 Dugger/Sizemore defeated Heathcock/Mason, 6-2, 6-1.
