On June 19, Lettermen of the USA hosted a clay target shoot fundraiser at Selwood farm in Alpine.
The organization’s “Clays for Heroes” event used the proceeds to benefited honorably discharged U.S. military veterans in need and the nonprofit Goode Foundation, whose mission is to support patients and families affected by ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and inspire the educational pursuit of treatment alternatives and research for a cure.
Following the event, participants received lunch provided by Bob Sykes Bar-B-Que, and Lettermen of the USA presented a $1500 check to benefit The Goode Foundation.
All sponsorships and donations were tax-deductible and helped to support the mission of Lettermen of the USA, which is to goal to military veterans and former college football players in need.
Lettermen of the USA is an all-volunteer organization that relies on donations to continue the mission of providing ADA-compliant home renovations, personal mobility aids, specialized vehicles and funds for medical expenses.
The Lettermen of the USA’s Third Annual One Yard at a Time Gala is scheduled for February 19, 2021, in Birmingham. The focus of the event will be on Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), all devastating illnesses that are much more prevalent in veterans and former athletes than in the general population.
