Lisa Green Garrett

Lisa Green Garrett, 63, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 15. She was a resident of Attalla, Alabama.

Lisa was born and raised in Jacksonville, AL, and graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1980. A dedicated and hardworking barber, she began her career at Ft. McClellan and later she and her family opened their own business, Green’s Barber Shop located just outside the Fort on Highway 21. Lisa barbered from 1979 until 2010 when she was forced to retire due to back issues. Known for her strong work ethic, she was once recognized for having the fastest haircut on the Fort.

She loved the outdoors and found joy working in her flower garden, riding her Harley motorcycle and was a devoted Alabama football fan. In 1994, she met her husband, Bill, through CB radio and mutual friends, and they were married in May of 1996.

Anyone who knew Lisa would say she had a heart like no other – kind, generous, and always thinking of others. One of her proud traditions was growing her hair long, then cutting it short and donating to Locks of Love to help children in need. Her life was marked by hard work, love, generosity, and a giving spirit that touched everyone who knew her. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby and Sarah Green.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Billy “Bill” Garrett; brother, Barry Green, Jacksonville, AL; nephew, Brandon (Krislyn) Green, Gadsden, AL; niece, Shelby (Jeffrey) Heuer, Tennessee; uncle, Tim (Audrey) Green, Gadsden, AL; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friend, Anita Barksdale.

The family would like to express special thanks to Gadsden Regional Medical Center MICU, Dr. Jack Hasson, Dr. Prime, Centerwell Home Health, Gentiva Hospice, Amedysis Home Health Care and neighbors.
