Two local student-athletes were nominated this week for both the Alabama Sports Writers Association Offensive Player of the Week award and the Alabama High School Athletic Association Prep Spotlight for Week 8 of the 2012 high school football season.
Sardis senior running back Toby Pee rushed for 270 yards and four touchdowns on 27 carries and caught six passes for 57 yards in the Lions’ 55-44 loss to Fairview on Oct. 19.
Southside sophomore running back Holt Keeling caught a touchdown pass and ran for the game-winning score with 16 seconds remaining in Southside’s 27-26 win over Etowah on Oct. 19.
