Coosa Christian defeated Gaylesville, 6-4, in Class 1A, Area 12 action last Thursday (April 14). For the Conquerors, Brody Nelson went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored, while Thomas Skaggs went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Blaine West scored three runs.

Sardis split a doubleheader with Class 5A, Area 13 rival Boaz last Thursday (April 14). The Lions dropped the opener by a score of 3-2 before posting a 12-3 win in the nightcap. Game 1 starter Blaze Gerhart went six innings, allowing six hits, two runs and two walks while fanning five. Brody Samples (pictured above) had two hits, while Russ Wiggs scored a pair of runs. In game 2, winning pitcher Luke Weems scattered seven hits, three runs and two walks while striking out 12 in six innings. He helped his cause by going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Also at the plate for the Lions, Russ Wiggs went 3-for-3 with a double, three RBI and three runs scored; Trey Thornton and Ty Glass each went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored; and Levi Martin went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Case Martin added two RBI and two runs scored.

Sardis improved to 19-8 with a 7-5 victory over Boaz last Tuesday (April 12) in Sardis City. In six innings, winning pitcher Brody Samples allowed one hit, two runs and five walks while fanning eight. At the plate for the Lions, Case Martin went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored, while Carson Gillilan went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Landon Carroll added a double, two RBI and a run scored.

Sardis swept a doubleheader from St. Clair County on Saturday. April 9 in Sardis City. The Lions posted a 12-2 victory in Game 1, followed by a 10-0 shutout in Game 2. Both games ended in five innings.
In the opener, winning pitcher Blaze Gerhart allowed three hits, two walks and no earned runs while striking out six. Gerhart and Brody Samples each went 3-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Also for the Lions, Ty Glass went 2-for-2 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored; Carson Gillian went 2-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored; Trey Thornton went 1-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored; and Levi Martin went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Southside fell to Springville, 5-4, in eight innings in Class 6A, Area 13 action on Friday, April 8. For the Panthers, Toren Snow went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, while Drew
McBurnett went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Southside lost to Class 6A, Area 13 rival Springville, 3-0, on Thursday, April 7. Drew McBurnett went 2-for-3 for the Panthers, while Trey Frachiseur and Kutter Johnson each had a hit.

Sardis finished with 14 hits, including seven for extra bases, in a 14-1 victory in five innings over Class 5A, Area 13 rival Douglas on Thursday, April 7 in Sardis City. For the Lions, Russ Wiggs went 3-for-4 with wo RBI and a run scored; Trey Thornton went 2-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored; Landon Carroll went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored; Carson Gillilan went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored; Baylor Gerrard went 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored; Ty Glass had a triple, two RBI and a run scored; and Brody Samples had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored. In four innings, winning pitcher Andrew Felter allowed two hits, one walk and no earned runs while striking out five.
