Glencoe opened the Lincoln Round Robin Tournament with a pair of victories. On Tuesday, Nov. 26, the Yellow Jackets defeated Lincoln, 91-44. Grant Smith (pictured at left) paced Glencoe with 18 points, followed by Jayden Patton with 15, Davis Honeycutt and Garrett Morgan with 11 each and Aiden Johnson with seven. On Wednesday, Nov. 27, the Yellow Jackets beat Weaver, 91-66. Smith scored 25 points, followed by Morgan with 22, Patton with 14 and Bryce Borntrager with nine.
Southside went 2-1 at the recent Mako Classic in Orange Beach.
On Saturday, Nov. 23, the Panthers opened the tournament with a 58-52 loss to eventual champion UMS-Wright. Drew Clark paced Southside with 15 points, followed by Cayden Reason with 12 and Mason Stephens with 10.
On Monday, Nov. 25, the Panthers defeated Bayside Academy, 49-44. Reason scored 20 points, followed by Stephens with 12 and Clark with nine.
On Tuesday, Nov. 26, Southside beat LAMP, 59-39. Reason scored 28 points, followed by Clark with 14 and Stephens with eight.
Hokes Bluff raced out to a 21-1 first-quarter lead on the way to a 72-37 victory over West End on Monday, Nov. 25 in Walnut Grove. For the Eagles, Bryce Whitaker finished with 16 points, six rebounds, four steals, four deflections and three assists. Anthony Gooch netted 15 points and came up with four steals, while Anderson Morgan and Logan Carr each scored 11 points. Kooper Young added seven points, while Ronan McFadden grabbed 12 rebounds. Conner Walker had a double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Patriots, while Braxton Walker had 11 points and six boards.
J.B. Potter scored a game-high 16 points in Ashville’s 76-54 victory over Sardis on Monday, Nov. 25 in Sardis City. Potter also had five rebounds and three assists. Jrey Colley shot 57 percent (4-for-7) from the three-point line on ethe way to 15 points and five rebounds. Also for the Bulldogs, Jamon Williams had 11 points and four rebounds, Parker Smith had nine points, four rebounds and three steals; Dalton-Rice Thompson had eight points and six steals; Dylan Palmer had six points and for rebounds; and Nate Huckbay had six points and four assists.
Southside defeated Hokes Bluff, 60-55, in overtime on Friday, Nov. 22 at SHS. Cayden Reason paced the Panthers with 16 points, followed by Silas Osborne with 13 and Mason Stephens with 10. Stephens grabbed 10 rebounds, while Reason had seven and Drew Clark five. Clark also had three assists. Bryce Whitaker scored 19 points for the Eagles, followed by Noah Johnson with 12, Drew McCarver with nine, Anderson Morgan with seven and Anthony Gooch with six. Johnson pulled down seven rebounds, while McCarver cleared six. McCarver also had three steals and four deflections.
Rocky Peek earned his first victory as Coosa Christian head coach with the Conquerors’ 59-36 win over Ider on Friday, Nov. 22. D.J. Mackey and Kylen Johnson each scored 12 points for Coosa, while Jaxon Peek added 11.
Girls
Madison Tinker scored 16 points and Destiny Whiteside added 12 in Gadsden City’s 49-36 victory over Ramsay on Nov. 21 at GCHS. Naomi Wise added nine points for the Lady Titans, while Aaliyah Richard chipped in four. Wise grabbed nine rebounds, while Tinker and Raina Underwood both had four. Karleigh Sheffield distributed four assists.
