Local gridders make all-area teams

Several local players made the Class 3A, All-Region 6 and the Class 2A, All-Region 6 football teams for the 2022 season.
Selected from Hokes Bluff for 3A All-Region were senior receiver Cole Stone, senior lineman Dakota Holcomb, senior fullback Layton Horne and sophomore receiver Anderson Morgan.
Named from Westbrook Christian were senior running back Karmichael Cattling and senior linebacker C.J. Townsel.
Picked from Glencoe was senior quarterback Nolan Fairley.
Receiving honorable mention recognition were Noah Sprayberry, Kaleb Coshatt, Jaylen Simmons, Cole McGinnis and Connor Masters from Hokes Bluff; Hugh Windle, Jesi Andres, Aiden Hull, Mason Coley and Layton Crawford from Westbrook; and Garrett Gaskin, Taylor Wescott, Gavin Bray, Caleb Chapman and Cooper Horton from Glencoe.
West End’s Josh Carroll (pictured above) was named 2A All-Region 6 Defensive Player of the Year after finished with 152 tackles (including 14 for a loss) and 10 quarterback hurries.
Joining Carrol on the first team offense were West End senior receiver Thad Pearce, Gaston senior halfback Kobe Harris and Gaston sophomore lineman Nehemiah Samples. Making the first team defense from the Patriots were senior lineman Jeremiah Smith, senior linebacker Evan Stancil and freshman safety Jaxon Hamby.
Selected to the honorable mention team were Rick Sainsbury, Kane Lawson, Tyler Jones, Eli Golden and Jackson Price from West End and Luke Hollingsworth, Kyle Fitts, Josh Hester and Kodie Bogle from Gaston.
