Several area football players were nominated for the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s Prep Football Spotlight for the week of Oct. 4.
Westbrook Christian sophomore quarterback Brody Blevins finished with 386 yards and seven touchdowns in the Warriors’ 48-27 victory over Ohatchee. He rushed 33 times for 213 yards and five TDs and was 10-for-18 in passing for 173 yard and two scores. Bo Kilgo had five receptions for 125 yards and a touchdown.
West End senior receiver Jackson Mayo had 11 receptions for 198 yards and two touchdowns in the Patriots’ 26-12 loss to Cold Springs.
Hokes Bluff junior quarterback Bryce Whitaker rushed for 200 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries in the Eagles’ 28-27 loss to Alexandria. Senior linebacker Colten Shields had 10 tackles, including two for a loss, and two sacks.
Gaston senior cornerback Kodie Bogle had two interceptions, including a pick-six on the first play of the game, in the Bulldogs’ 42-28 win over Section. Senior running back Keller Skaggs (pictured above) rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries.
Etowah senior quarterback Jameson Scissum finished with 351 total yards and five touchdowns in the Blue Devils’ 42-6 victory over Oneonta. He was 12-for-21 in passing for 202 yards and two touchdowns and rushed 16 times for 149 yards and three scores.
Coosa Christian senior linebacker Clete O’Bryant had 10 tackles, including four for a loss, in the Conquerors’ 43-0 win over Cleveland.
Gadsden City senior running back T.J. Worthy rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns on seven carries and caught three passes or 38 yards and two scores in the Titans’ 55-0 win over Lee-Huntsville. Kai Franklin was 7 for 9 in passing for 157 yards and three TDs, while Alex Swafford had four receptions for 131 yards and a touchdown.
