Local runners compete at Spain Park 5K

Three area runners finished in the top 10 and three posted top 25 showings at the Spain Park Twilight Under the Lights 5K last Saturday (Sept. 25) in Hoover.
The Class 4A Ashville girls took third place with an average time of 24:06.48, behind only Class 7A Hoover and Class 7A Spain Park.
In the girls’ race, Ashville Taylor Knight finished fifth out of 56 runners with a time of 21:13.65. Sardis’ Barit Snead came in eighth at 21:57.69. In the boys’ event of 81 runners, Ashville’s Joe Stevens finished ninth at 17:36.39.
Ashville’s Wyatt Knight clocked in 12th place with a time of 17:45.33. Kathleen McCarthy (23:20.14) and Emma Drinkard (23:39.48) finished 19th and 21st for the Lady Bulldogs.
