Ava Ramsey’s score off an error in the bottom of the sixth inning held up as the winning run in Southside’s 11-10 victory over Moody last Tuesday (Apr. 25). Jalyn Allen and Lexi Darnell retired the Lady Blue Devils in order in the top of the seventh to secure the win. At the plate for the Lady Panthers, Ramsey went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, an RBI and three runs scored; Rylann Shaw went 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI; Maddie Griffith and Kadey Barbe each went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored; Peyton Burrell went 3-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored; Jasie Brooks had a two-run single and Bailey Houston had a hit and two runs scored.

Gaston outscored Talladega County Central 36 to 6 in a doubleheader sweep last Tuesday (Apr. 25). The Lady Bulldogs won 16-1 in three innings in the opener and 20-5 in four innings in the nightcap.
In Game 1, Emma Samples went 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored, while Avah Horne had an RBI double and three runs scored. Kiana Green had a two-run double, while Makenzie McCarver and Chloe Brown both scored three runs. Lexi Ponce struck out five to earn the win.
In Game 2, Meleah Crane went 2-for-2 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored; Emma Samples went 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI and four runs scored; McCarver had a two-run triple and three runs scored; Randi Morgan went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored; Chloe Brown had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored and Ponce had three runs scored.

Ashville pounded out 13 hits in a 20-3 win in four innings over Gadsden City last Tuesday (Apr. 25) at GCHS. For the Lady Bulldogs, Ansley Brashier went 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and four runs scored; Jayda Burgess went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored; Lexi St. John went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored; Brooklyn Mikus went 2-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored and Gracie Click had an RBI base hit and three run scored. Haley Zenay had a hit and an RBI for the Lady Titans, while Trinity Wright and Jada Odom each had a hit and a run scored.

Jaleigh Devine’s walk-off double gave Etowah a 4-3 win over Sardis last Monday (Apr. 24) in Attalla. After Maggy Bennett singled with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Devine lined a hit into centerfield to give the Lady Blue Devils the victory. Bennett went 2-or-3 with an RBI and a run scored. In 4.2 innings, winning pitcher Sydney Simpson allowed one hit, three runs and eight walks while fanning 11. Kytha Edwards, Jalyn Hannah and Jalen Knight each scored a run for the Lady Lions.

A sharp pitching performance from Brayley King sparked West End to a 5-1 victory over Guntersville last Monday (Apr. 24). In seven innings, King allowed four hits and one walk while striking out eight. At the plate for the Class 2A No. 5 Lady Patriots, Emma Finch had a two-run home run and a run scored, Jada Wright had a hit and an RBI and Josie Bunch and Daliegha Wheeler each had a hit and a run scored.

Kayla Traylor and Abby Payne both had a home run and a double in Hokes Bluff’s 11-4 win over Collinsville last Monday (Apr. 24). Payne went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored, while Traylor (pictured above) went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Also for the Lady Eagles, Sophia Jackson went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI; Makenna Bennich went 2-for-4 with a double and Macie Robertson went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Glencoe hit five home runs, including two each from Hailey Hanners and Abi Bunt, in a 15-3 victory over Walter Wellborn last Monday (Apr. 24). Hanners, who also had a double, went 3-for-3 with six RBI and two runs scored, while Bunt went 2-for-2 with four RBI and three runs scored. Also for the Lady Yellow Jackets, Aubrey Maxwell had a home run, an RBI and a run scored; Summer Crump went 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored; Sadie Waldrop went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored; Emma Croy had a hit, two RBI and a run scored and Cayse Willett had a hit, an RBI and a run scored. In three innings, winning pitcher Jordyn Morris allowed three hits, no earned runs and one walk with one strikeout.

Hokes Bluff and Pisgah played to a 5-5 tie in five innings last Saturday (Apr. 22). For the Lady Eagles, Abby Payne had a two-run triple; Sophia Jackson went 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI and a run scored and Hayden Wolfe had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored.

Sardis notched a pair of wins last Saturday (Apr. 22) at the Plainview Invitational Tournament in Rainsville. The Lady Lions edged Lauderdale County, 1-0, and shut out Collinsville, 18-0, in three innings.
Kayden Tarvin pitched a no-hitter against Lauderdale County, going the full seven innings with two walks and eight strikeouts. Vada Wilmore’s home run in the fifth inning held up as the winning run. Kytha Edwards also had a hit for Sardis.
The Lady Lions strung together 12 hits against Collinsville, including six for extra bases. Jalyn Hannan went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored; Halle Haynes went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored; Baylor Gilmer went 2-for-2 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored; Vada Wilmore went 1-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored; Kytha Edwards went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored; Maddie Harris had a two-run single and a run scored and Annah Kate Waldrep had an RBI double and two runs scored.

On April 21, Hokes Bluff defeated Class 1A No. 10 Spring Garden, 9-5, in six innings. For Hokes Bluff, Rosie Garrett went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and a run scored; Kadyn Howell had a two-run home run and two runs scored; Abby Payne went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBI and a run scored; Kayla Traylor went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and Hayden Wolfe went 2-for-2 with two runs scored.

A 12-run fourth inning propelled Class 2A No. 5 West End to a 14-0 victory over Guntersville in five innings on April 20. For the Lady Patriots, Daliegha Wheeler went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored; Bella Falkner went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI; Brayley King went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored; Josie Bunch, Kaylee Tarpley and Liddy Falkner each had a two-RBI base hit and a run scored and Jada Wright had an RBI single and a run scored. In a complete-game effort, winning pitcher Peyton Hill allowed one hit and one walk while fanning seven.

A pair of big hitting performances helped Etowah post an 8-1 victory over Albertville on April 20. Maggy Bennett went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored, while Jaleigh Devine went 2-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored. Also for the Lady Blue Devils, (22-20), Chloe Kelly went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Bella Owen had a hit, an RBI and a run scored. Etowah pitchers Kylee Wilder, Elizabeth Gilliland and Aubbrie Coker combined to allow five hits and one walk with six strikeouts.

Gaston defeated Anniston, 8-2, in five innings on April 20. For the Lady Bulldogs, Kiana Green and Makenzie McCarver each had a hit, two RBI and a run scored, while Avah Horne and Lexi Ponce each went 2-for-2 with a run scored. Winning pitcher Emma Samples allowed one hit, two runs and four walks while striking out seven.

An eight-run second inning paved the way for Southside’s 15-0 win in three innings over Douglas on April 20. For the Lady Panthers, Maddie Griffith went 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored; Jasie Brooks went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored; Jovi Marble went 1-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored; Lauren McKee went 1-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored; Ava Ramsey had a three-RBI single and a run scored; Jalyn Allen had a hit and three runs scored and Peyton Burrell had a hit and two runs scored. Lexi Darnell allowed three hits and struck out two on the way to the win. She did not issue a walk.
