Local teams compete at volleyball regionals

Several local high school teams competed at the single-elimination AHSAA North Super Regional Tournament on Oct. 22-24 in Hoover.
In Class 3A, Glencoe fell to Geraldine, 26-24, 11-25, 24-26, 19-25. For the Lady Yellow Jackets (34-19), Alli Jo Amos had six kills, three digs and two blocks; Ashlyn Stone had 14 digs and four kills; Avery Barkley (pictured above) had 29 assists, five digs and two kills; Evelyn Nowak had 14 kills and two digs; Gracyn Bunt had four digs and two aces; Kaelyn Hollis had 27 digs; Kinlee Montgomery had 22 digs; nine assists, three aces and two digs; Mia Talbot had 16 kills and three digs; Millie Chambless had five kills and two blocks; Payton Gray had eight digs; and Sadie Waldrop had three digs.
In Class 6A, Southside defeated Pell City, 3-0, before falling to Buckhorn, 3-0, in the quarterfinals. The Lady Panthers ended the season with a 21-15 record.
In Class 2A, West End lost to Pleasant Valley, 3-0. The Lady Patriots ended the season at 19-21. In Class 4A, Ashville lost to Deshler, 3-1. The Lady Bulldogs finished year with a 24-26 record.
In Class 1A, Coosa Christian fell to Addison, 3-0. The Lady Conquerors ended the season at 5-22.
