Four wrestlers from Ashville and one from Southside finished as state runners-up at the AHSAA wrestling tournament last Saturday (Feb. 19) at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville.
Ashville, the defending Class 1A-4A state champion, finished third behind
Weaver and Ohatchee.
Placing second in the state for the Bulldogs were Tyler Ebner (34-10), who lost a 2-0 decision to Cherokee County’s David Herrick in the 138-pound weight class; Dylan Harris (34-4), who lost by a fall at 3:59 to Weaver’s Devin Anderson at 182 pounds; Layden Olson (38-8), who dropped a 7-5 decision to Ohatchee’s Ethan Thrash at 220 pounds: and Mason Wilson (41-4), who lost by a fall at 3:07 to Ranburne’s Carson Hall at 285 pounds.
Taking second place for the Panthers was Jerrod Harden (40-6), who fell to Northridge’s Jayden Joseph, 3-1, at 285 pounds.
