Locals compete at Icebreaker meet

One area student-athlete medaled and several others finished in the top 20 at the Icebreaker Invitational track and field meet on Saturday, Jan. 8 at the Birmingham Cross Plex.
Westbrook Christian senior Carl Henry (pictured above) placed second out of 93 competitors in the boys shot put with a throw of 48 feet and 10 inches.
Ashville sophomore Taylor Knight came in eight in the girls 1600-meter run with a time of 5:33.37. Teammate Emma Drrinkard finished 14th in the 400-meter dash at 1:03.09.
The Ashville boys 4×800-meter relay team of Clayton Knight, Wyatt Knight, Joe Stevens and Greyson Simpson came in 13th at 9:00.49.
Southside’s Jackson Griggs finished 17th in the boys 1600-meter run at 4:38.18.
