Locals make AHSAA Prep Football Spotlight

Several area student-athletes were recognized for the Alabama High School Athletic Association Prep Football Spotlight for the week of September 30.
Southside’ Mason Teague rushed 28 times for 265 yards (including 201 in the second half) and had touchdown runs of 3, 17, 73 and 73 yards in the Panthers’ 41-20 victory over Boaz. He also caught three passes for 20 yards.
Ashville’s Greyson Simpson kicked field goals of 43 and 24 yards in the Bulldogs’ 28-6 loss to Hayden. He also had five tackles and an interception on defense.
Hokes Bluff’s Noah Sprayberry rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries in the Eagles’ 30-16 victory over White Plains.
In West End’s 44-21 victory over Sand Rock, Tyler Jones (pictured above at left) was 10 for 17 in passing for 224 yards and two touchdowns, Thad Pearce (pictured above at right) had seven receptions for 192 yards. Evan Stancil kicked a career-long 43-yard field goal and was 5-for-5 in extra points and Rock Sainsbury had two interceptions.
