Locals make AHSAA prep spotlight

Several area student-athletes were recognized for the Alabama High School Athletic Association Prep Spotlight for Week 2 of the 2022 season.
Hokes Bluff senior halfback Noah Sprayberry (pictured above) scored all three of the Eagles’ touchdowns in a 24-14 win over Glencoe. Sprayberry, whose touchdown runs were from three, nine and five yards out, finished with 106 yards on 19 carries.
Etowah senior quarterback Trace Thompson threw for 305 yards and five touchdowns, all in the first half, in the Blue Devils’ 42-0 victory over Ashville. Four of Thompson’s TD passes went to Omareon Finch, who finished with eight catches for 215 yards.
West End senior quarterback Tyler Jones passed for two touchdowns and ran for another in the Patriots’ 41-20 win over Pleasant Valley. Jones was 9 for 17 in passing for 137 yards and rushed for 51 yards on eight attempts. Thad Pearce caught five passes for 66 yards and two touchdowns.
Southside junior halfback Mason Teague rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries in the Panthers’ 45-7 victory over Lincoln.
Southside senior Abdullah Allabassi kicked a 32-yard field goal and was a perfect 6-for-6 in extra points in the Panthers’ 45-7 victory over Lincoln.
Westbrook Christian senior quarterback Mason Coley threw three touchdown passes in the Warriors’ 35-13 victory over Ohatchee. Coley was 18 for 25 in passing for 283 yards and rushed 15 times for 59 yards.
Gaston senior halfback Kobe Harris rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 47-14 loss to Southeastern.
