Locals make AHSAA Prep Spotlight

Several area student-athletes were recognized for the Alabama High School Athletic Association Prep Spotlight for the week of October 7.
West End junior Kane Lawson (pictured above) rushed for 285 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries in the Patriots’ 49-26 win over Holly Pond.
Westbrook Christian senior Brielle Wood finished with 76 assists, 28 digs, 16 kills and 13 aces to help the Lady Warriors win the Silver Bracket of the Yellow Jacket Invitational at Glencoe.
Glencoe senior Katie Giles won her third straight Etowah County Schools title with a time of 20:52.70 to lead the Lady Yellow Jackets to their first-ever county championship.
Southside’s Evan Christopher won the Etowah County Schools Championship with a time of 16:39.50, helping the Panthers win their 10th consecutive county title.
Gadsden City seniors Elijah Dunn and Braylen Starkes each returned an interception for a touchdown in the Titans’ 53-0 win over Mae Jemison.
