Locals medal at Oneonta meet

Seven members of the Hokes Bluff track and field team and one from Coosa Christian medaled at the Oneonta Meet No. 2 on March 31.
A pair of student-athletes earned two medals for the Eagles. Haley Kate Wellingham took second place in the 400-meter dash at 1:02.77 and third place in the 200-meter dash at 27.48, while Bryer Morrison (pictured above) was runner-up in both the 1600-meter run (4:56.47) and the 3200-meter run (11:06.09).
The lone local gold medal came in the boys javelin, where Conner Wellingham’s throw of 149-3 edged Jasper’s Logan Naramore by five inches.
Also taking home the second-place silver was Hokes Bluff’s Harrison Cummings in the discus at 108-5.
Earning the third-place bronze in the shot put was Coosa Christian’s Kailah East at 30-2 and Hokes Bluff’s Leon Chen at 38-7.
