Matthew Ellis Jackson

Matthew Ellis Jackson, affectionately known as “Schoolboy”, was born on June 9, 1949, to L.C. Jackson and Mary Ellis in Centerville, Alabama.

After completing high school, Matthew enlisted and served two years in the United States Army as Military Police where he earned a Nation Defense Service Medal in recognition of his honorable active-duty service.

On July 31, 2025, he traded mortality for immortality.

He is preceded in death by his father, L.C. Jackson, mother, Mary Ellis and sister Mareka Brooks.

He leaves to cherish his memories to: His wife, Vivian Jackson of Indianapolis, IN; daughters, Shoney Jackson of Summerville, SC and LaCretta Jackson of Centerpoint, AL.; stepdaughters, Keisha Merritt of Toledo, OH and Francis Marks Trawick of Columbia, MO.; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sisters, Chiquita McNair of Birmingham, AL., Tywanna Jackson (Cornelius) of Fultondale, AL., Beverly Underwood (Craig) of McCalla, AL., Kersonia Jackson of Gulf Shores, AL., LaTonya Rudolph and Kimberly Rudolph, both of Bessemer, AL.; one step-brother, Roderick Jackson (Melodee) of Magnolia, TX; A special aunt who cared for him until his passing, Rosie Whitt; two special cousins who assisted with his care, Tracy Whitt and George Whitt Jr.; also a host of family and friends.

We ask that you keep this family in your hearts and prayers during their time of bereavement.
