McCants named to All-American team

Gadsden State sophomore basketball guard Kenric McCants, who led the Cardinals in scoring with 17 points per game while helping GSCC reach the ACCC championship game, recently was named was named NJCAA All-American in the honorable mention category.

A 2010 Gadsden City High graduate, McCants finished the 2012-13 season with a 4.94- assist average while averaging five rebounds and two steals a game. He also shot 30 percent from the three-point line.

In addition to this honor, McCants was named ACCC North Division Player of the Year. During the recent ACCC Region 22 tournament, McCants was named to the All-Region and All-North Division first team.

McCants is one of only two players in the last 20 years from Gadsden State to achieve All-American status, along with Will Ginn following the 2005-2006 season.

McCants currently has several scholarship opportunities but has not made a decision as of yet.
