In his final game in front of his home fans, Gadsden City High graduate and Gadsden State sophomore Kenric McCants netted 26 points to lead GSCC to a 79-75 victory over Alabama Community College Conference rival Snead State on Feb. 28 at Beck Field House.
McCants, who shot a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line, added seven rebounds and five assists.
Also for the Cardinals (21-7, 9-3), Terrence Lee finished with 12 points and six rebounds, while Deddrick Lovelace contributed 10 points and six boards.
Gadsden State travels to Wallace-Hanceville next week for the ACCC Tournament. As the North Division No. 2 seed, the Cardinals received a first-round bye. Gadsden State faces the winner of Bishop State and Southern Union in the tournament quarterfinals on Thursday (Mar. 7) at 1 p.m. The tournament semifinals are scheduled for Mar. 8 at 6 p.m. The championship game is set for Mar. 9 at 5 p.m.
