Numerous local students graduate from college

Over 6,000 degrees were awarded during The University of Alabama’s spring 2025 commencement ceremonies at Coleman Coliseum. The University provides numerous opportunities for service and growth through its educational, social and cultural experiences. Local students include: Mi’kyah Davis, Emily Emanuelsen, Morgan Kidd, Alexander Knight, Riley Millican, Kate Powers, Indya Price, Sean Bearden, Riley Kerr, Mylee Anderson, all of Gadsden; Bailee Blackwell, Alyssa Tanner, both of Hokes Bluff; Mahmood Abbassi, Chloe Davis, Lauren Patterson, Rachel Smith, Jonathan Tennyson, all of Rainbow City; and Elizabeth Hand and Joseph Steen, both of Southside.

The University of West Alabama held spring commencement exercises on May 8 and 9, with President Todd G. Fritch conferring degrees to nearly 600 students in the graduating class represent some 19 states across the U.S. and abroad. Local graduates are: Whitney Cannon, Zachary Eakes, Melissa Hale-Saylor, Tracie Smith, Van Kedra Wilson, of Gadsden; Bradley Clay and Jolie Roberts, of Southside; Jamie Barkley and Dillon Terry, Hokes Bluff; and Scott Hill, of Glencoe.

Troy University recognized students who completed the requirements for graduation during the Spring Semester and Term 4 of the 2024-2025 academic year. The Spring Semester includes graduates from the Troy campus. Term 4 graduates include students at TROY’s campuses in Dothan, Phenix City and Montgomery, along with teaching sites outside of Alabama and online. Local students who graduated include: Jasmyn Gilbert, of Gadsden, and Leslie Peek, of Hokes Bluff.
