Nunnally, Hancock shine in Yellow Jacket win

Sparked by a pair of late touchdowns, Glencoe posted a 14-9 victory over Class 3A, Region 5 rival Cleveland last Friday (Oct. 12) at GHS.

Trailing 9-0 entering the fourth quarter, the Yellow Jackets finally got on the scoreboard on Hunter Nunnally’s 19-yard touchdown pass to Austin Hancock. Joseph Bright added the PAT cutting the Panther lead to two points with 5:29 left in the game.

Glencoe (3-4, 3-2) completed its rally when Nunnally and Hancock again hooked up a scoring pass, this time from 38 yards out. Bright nailed the extra point, making it 14-9 in favor of the Jackets with 2:43 remaining. 

Nunnally completed 7-of-19 passes for 97 yards, while Hancock had five receptions for 84 yards.

Thomas Ozmint led the Glencoe ground game with 88 yards on 16 carries, while Nunnally added 60 yards on 14 attempts. 

Mason Brown led the Yellow Jackets in tackles with 11, followed by Dalton Reid with 10.5 and Pace Ozmint with seven. 

Blake Christian and Scott Bradley each had a sack, while Dalton Freeman had an interception. 

Glencoe continues region play on Friday with a home game against Susan Moore.
