Southside’s Jackson Griggs took first place and teammate Luke Holcombe finished runner-up by less than a second at the Bulldog Twilight Run last Tuesday (Sept. 28) in Anniston.
Griggs (pictured above) clocked in at 16:31.1, while Holcombe crossed the line at 16:31.9.
Other local top 10 boys finishers were Gadsden City’s Tanner Rice in fifth place at 17:20.2, Southside’s Ryan Maudsley in seventh at 17:39.8 and Gadsden City’s Mithun Rameshkumar in ninth at 18:02.8.
Girls’ top 10 performers were Sardis’ Barit Snead in sixth place at 21:26.0 and Southside’s Alexis Valentine in eighth at 21:57.0.
Top 20 efforts in the boys’ race included Southside’s Evan Christopher (11th, 18:09.2), Sardis’ Blade Devin (15th, 18:32.9), Southside’s Parker Cunningham (16th, 18:38.3), Southside’s Max Valentine (17th, 18:39.8) and Southside’s Andrew Simmons (20th, 18:41.6).
Area girls who came in 20th or better were Southside’s Zoie Menk (12th, 22:26.9), Southside’s Mallory Tucker (14th, 23:01.2) Southside’s Mallory Rich (15th, 23:11.8), Glencoe’s Sarah Ponder (17th, 23:24.7) and Southside’s Adalyn Phillips (20th, 23:29.7).
