Southside’s five-game winning streak came to an end at Leeds on September 30.
In a Class 5A Region 6 matchup, the Panthers fell to the second-ranked Green Wave, 24-6.
Southside’s lone score was Gauge Nesmith’s 84-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Bryan midway through the first quarter. Leeds scored 24 unanswered points from that point on.
Nesmith (pictured above) was 7 for 20 in passing for 143 yards. Bryan had two receptions for 88 yards, while Cody Roberts caught three passes for 50 yards.
The Panthers (5-2, 3-1) have an open date this week before visiting region rival Alexandria on October 14.
