Potter, Huckbay post big numbers as Ashville ends skid

Ashville junior quarterback J.B. Potter accounted for 439 of the team’s 449 offensive yards in the Bulldogs’ 33-20 victory over Class 4A Region 6 rival Oneonta on Friday, Sept. 13 at Kin Logan Stadium.
The win snapped a 16-game losing streak dating back to Week 6 of the 2022 season. It was also Ashville’s first region win during that same span.
Potter was 18 for 29 in passing for 385 yards and four touchdowns and rushed 13 times for 54 yards.
Junior receiver Nate Huckbay also had a big night, catching eight passes for 204 yards and three TDs. He also had two interceptions on defense.
Braxton Thomas had 10 tackles, followed by Brayden Daniels and Parker Smith with six each.
The Bulldogs continue region play on Friday, Sept. 20 at Etowah.
