 By Mike Goodson/Sports Correspondent

Brad Robertson scored 12 points in the final period, including 8-of-8 from the free throw line, as. Hokes Bluff outscored Ashville, 21-10, in the final minutes of the fourth quarter en-route to a 60-47 victory on Jan. 31.

Three Eagles scored in double figures to pace the host Eagles.

Robertson scored a game high 24 points followed by Isaac King and Luke Jenkins with 15 and 11, respectively.

Hokes Bluff led at each quarter break. The Eagles led 14-11 at the end of the first period, paced by 9 points from Robertson. Hokes Bluff led, 28-25, at intermission and took a  39-37 lead into the final frame. King scored six of his 15 points in the fourth period.

Hokes Bluff head coach Greg Watkins was proud of the way the Eagles finished.

“We played hard toward the end of the third quarter and down the stretch of the fourth quarter. Brad Robertson did a great job on the free throw line and Matt Watkins rebounded well.

“They doubled up on King in the post and he got in a little foul trouble, but he was able to find the open men although he was being double teamed.”

Ashville was led by Marcellus Brown with 11 points and E.J. Moss with 10.

Hokes Bluff (19-7) will visit Ragland on Feb.2 and will host Walter Wellborn on Feb. 3.
