Sardis shines at Albertville meet

Sardis High took home 16 medals, including eight first-place gold, at the Albertville Varsity Meet No. 1 on Monday, Feb. 26.
For the boys, Canyon McGee came away with four medals – first place in the 400-meter dash (55.88), second place in the high jump (5-8) and triple jump (38-11.5) and third place in the long jump (18-11).
All three of Aiden Pierce’s medals were gold. He finished first in the 800-meter run (2:17.04) and the 3200-meter run (12:11.80) and was a member of the Lions’ first place 4×400-meter relay team (4:43.85) along with Richard Escarment, Jacob Payne and Gavin Quisenberry.
Gage Garner (pictured above) captured the gold in the javelin (130-4) and the shot put (43-2) and earned a second-place silver in the discus (105-7).
Jacob Haisten came in first in the 300-meter hurdles (51.04) and was a member of Sardis’ third-place 4×100-meter relay team (49.14) along with Quisenberry, Dawson Clanton and Bryan Gramajo.
Seth Cooper earned the gold in the discus (115-6), while Brayden Walker came in third in the javelin (113-10).
The Lady Lions took home the third-place bronze with Hayden Kittle in the javelin (69-2) and Sophie-Clare Griffith, Madi Lumpkin, Georgia Jackson and Marrisa Bozarth in the 4×100-meter relay (1:10.16).
