Sherry Lynn Dye, 60 years old, passed away Thursday, July 31 at Riverview Medical Center. She was surrounded by family and those who loved her. She was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado and a longtime resident of Piedmont, Alabama. She attended school at Roy Webb and graduated from Jacksonville High School. She played basketball and was a member of the cheer squad.
Sherry was a loving mother and grandmother. Nothing made her happier than when her grandchildren came to visit. The only thing closest may have been Auburn Football. She was a proud fan. She’d even cheer on the Crimson Tide, as long as they weren’t playing the Tigers. She loved nature and camping. She enjoyed southern cooking, especially anything that came from her garden each summer. She had a passion for reading and journaling. It wasn’t abnormal to find a hand written letter from her long after computers and technology became popular.
She was warm and welcoming. Her hospitality was always felt and her ability to make you feel at home was always present. Music was always playing. Her soul was country. She loved Elvis and Patsy Cline, but not more than she loved Jesus and her family.
Sherry was proceeded in death by her parents, Marvin Cecil Dye and Shelvia Jean Reedy Dye, and granddaughter Luna Jones. She is survived by her life partner, Stephen Jones; children, Victoria Jones Martin, Zackary Jones, and Katherine Schoenfeldt; grandchildren, Jeremiah Martin, Adeline Martin, James Jones, and Jackson Trahan; sister, Susan Dye Lane; nephew, Benjamin Lane; and brother-in-law Edmond Lane.
A memorial service will be held in her honor Sunday, August 10th at 3pm at Walk of Life Fellowship Church in Piedmont, Al. Services will be led by minister, Mike Chapman and the family will receive visitors at this time.
