Southside runner places second at MLK Classic

Southside High’s Evan Christopher (pictured above) finished runner-up out of 21 competitors in the 3200-meter run event at the Martin Luther King Indoor Track Classic on Jan. 15 at the Birmingham CrossPlex. Christopher’s time of 9:49.12 was a second faster than Jayden Allred of Cold Springs.
Also placing in the top 10 was Ashville’s Taylor Knight, who came in fifth in the 3200-meter run with a time of 13:00.87, and Southside’s Kathryn Webb, whose leap of four feet and eight inches was good for 10th place. Knight also finished 15th in the 1600-meter run at 5:45.01 and 20th in the 800-meter run at 2:35.33.
