Southside sweeps Bulldog Twilight Run

The Southside High cross country teams swept the Bulldog Twilight Run on September 27 at White Plains.
The boys team totaled 42 points, three less than runner-up White Plains. The girls edged White Plains, 50 to 51.
The Hokes Bluff boys finished fifth out of 12 teams, while the Gadsden City boys came in ninth.
The Panthers had four runners finish in the top 10, led by Evan Christopher with a third-place time of 17:17.70 out of 131 runners. Jackson Griggs came in fifth place at 17:37.53, followed by Max Valentine in sixth at 17:38.76 and Hayden Tucker in seventh at 17:40.93.
Hokes Bluff’s Bryer Morrison clocked in at eighth place at 17:41.71.
Finishing in the top 25 for Southside were Sanjay Wright in 22nd place at 19:00.51, Bram Van Gils in 23rd place at 19:02.70 and Matthew Battles in 24th place at 19:03.16.
Hokes Bluff’s Mason Miller finished in 25th place at 19:03.23.
In a field of 90 runners, Sarah Burger paced the Southside girls with a time of 21:34.61. Mallory Tucker placed 10th at 22:52.12, followed by Zoie Menk in 12th place at 23:02.11.
Hokes Bluff’s Emma Godfrey finished in 13th place at 23:10.77, followed Southside’s Taylor Dortch (23:27.19) and Marlee Tucker (24:02.19) in 14th and 17th place, respectively.
