Southside, Westbrook boys advance to soccer Final 4; Lady Panthers, Lady Warriors fall in second round

The Southside boys soccer team earned a trip to the Final Four with a 3-1 victory over Douglas in the second round of the Class 5A state playoffs on Friday, May 3 at Barney Hood Stadium.
The Panthers (25-2-1) face Guntersville on Wednesday, May 8 at 7 p.m. at 7 p.m. in the state semifinals at John Hunt Park in Huntsville. The state championship match is scheduled for Friday. May 10 at 9 a.m.
Against Douglas, Camren Thompson (pictured above) had a goal and an assist, while Alex Mullins and Ouzeiph Toumiba both scored a goal. Hayes Cosby had six saves in goal.

Westbrook Christian qualified for the Class 4A Final Four tournament for the second year in a row with a 2-0 win over White Plains on Friday, May 3 in Anniston.
The Warriors (14-12-1) face Mars Hill Bible on Wednesday, May 8 at 3 p.m. in the state semifinals at John Hunt Park in Huntsville. The state championship match is scheduled for Friday. May 10 at 9 a.m.

Southside fell to Springville, 2-1 in the second round of Class 5A girls state soccer playoffs on Friday. May 3 in Springville. The Lady Panthers finished the season with a 20-7 record.

The Westbrook Christian girls soccer team lost to Jacksonville, 3-2, in a penalty shootout in two overtimes on Saturday, May 4 in Jacksonville. The Lady Warriors finished the season with 18-5-3 record.
