Southside, Westbrook win first round soccer games

Southside defeated Cullman, 3-2, in the first round of the Class 6A state playoffs last Friday (Apr. 23) at SHS. John Doster, Caleb Ogle and Saïd Toumiba each scored a goal for the Panthers, while Doster and Brandon Ayala both had an assist. Jake Bell had five saves in goal. Southside travels to Fort Payne this Tuesday (Apr. 27) for a second round game.

Alana Morton scored three goals and Anna Kate Welch had nine saves in Southside’s 3-2 win over Decatur in the first round of the Class 6A state playoffs last Friday (Apr. 23) at SHS. Camryn Davis (pictured above) had two assists for the Lady Panthers, while Kinsey Carter had one. Southside travels to Randolph this Tuesday (Apr. 27) for a second round game.

Westbrook Christian posted a 4-0 shutout over Douglas in the first round of the Class 4A/5A state playoffs last Friday (Apr. 23) in Rainbow City. Ella Keene scored two goals for the Lady Warriors, while Claire Upton and Anna Cate Edwards each scored one. Westbrook travels to Lincoln this Tuesday (Apr. 27) for a second round game.
