Cooper White, leading off the game for Spain Park, hit a pop fly to second base for the first out of the Spain Park/Gadsden City game on Wednesday.
Little did any of the fans in attendance know that this would be the high point of the game for the home standing Titans (4-8).
The Jaguars (7-6) would score four runs in the top of the first inning, five in the second and one each in the third and fourth inning to take an 11-0 lead.
Spain Park added 11 more runs in the fifth inning on the way to a 22-0 victory. An infield single by Austin Correll was the Titans’ only hit for the game.
GCHS head coach Taylor Talbot gave most of the credit to the Jaguars.
“They have a good ball club, and we gave them too many outs. We’re just not playing well defensively. We have got to get better.”
Spain Park banged out 16 hits against three Gadsden City pitchers and the Titans made five errors.
Noah Burns was the win-ning pitcher for Spain Park, while Austin Brewer took the loss for Gadsden City.
