Titans lock up third seed with win over Huntsville

Gadsden City locked up the No. 3 seed in Class 7A, Region 4 with a 48-21 win over Huntsville last Friday (Oct. 21) in Huntsville.
The Titans were led by quarterback Ryan Sparks, who completed 8-of-13 passes for 148 yards and three touchdowns. Damon Williams also had a big night, rushing for 176 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries.
Gadsden City (5-5, 5-2) scored early and often, lighting up Huntsville for 42 first-half points. Sparks three touchdown passes all came in the first half. He hit LaRay Mostella for nine yards and Jamontavious Woods from 38 and 34 yards out.
Williams scored from 1-yard out and then from 74 yards. Jaelyn Fleming finished the first half scoring with a 6-yard, run giving Gadsden City a commanding 42-0 lead.
Huntsville (2-7, 1-6) didn’t quit in the second half, scoring 21 points on William Cooper’s 46 yard catch-and-run from Jackson Glover and a pair of 1-yard runs by quarterback Matthew Nowlin. Damian Thompson finished the scoring for the Titans with a 3-yard run.
Gadsden City has the week off before getting ready to travel in the first round of the playoffs on Nov. 4.
