Titans’ Morgan, Glencoe’s Giles win pair of events at GCHS Open No. 3

Gadsden City’s Emani Morgan and Glencoe High’s Katie Giles captured a pair of first-place medals at the Gadsden City Open Meet No. 3 on March 17 at GCHS.
Morgan took the gold in the girls 100-meter dash (12.56) and 200-meter dash (26.16), while Giles finished tops in the girls 1600-meter run (5:55.14) and 800-merer dash (2:36.35).
Other area athletes who finished first in individual events were Gadsden City’s Clyde Curry in the boys 100-meter dash (11.18), Southside’s Jackson Griggs in the boys 1600-meter run (4:49.46), Gadsden City’s Kyla Price in the girls 400-meter run (1:03.18), Gadsden City’s Tanner Rice (pictured above) in the boys 800-meter run, Gadsden City’s Caleb Davis in the boys 200-meter dash, Glencoe’s Sarah Ponder in the girls 3200-meter run, Gadsden City’s Dhruv Patel in the boys 3200-meter run, Westbrook Christian’s Carl Henry in the boys shot put, Westbrook’s Gracie Countryman in the girls discus, Southside’s Duncan Van Ling in the boys high jump, Southside’s Sanjay Wright in the boys triple jump and Southside’s Will Shirley in the boys javelin.
Gadsden City swept the relay events, winning the boys and girls 4×100 and the boys and girls 4×400.
