Titans rally past Bob Jones, 40-27

Trailing by 13 points late in the first half, Gadsden City reeled off 33 straight points on the way to a 40-27 victory over Bob Jones on Friday, Sept. 27 at GCHS.
The Titans’ rally began shortly before halftime on T.J. Worthy’s 23-yard touchdown run and Christopher Tomas’ extra point, which pulled GCHS within 20-14.
Gadsden City pulled away with four touchdowns during the third quarter on Kai Franklin’s 56-yard run, Kaedin Ray’s 64-yard run, Worthy’s 15-yard run and Franklin’s 26-yard scoring strike to Kerrell Yow.
The Patriots closed out the scoring with a 23-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter. Franklin’s 11-yard touchdown pass to Mathew Sparks midway through the first quarter had tied the game at 7-7.
Gadsden City outgained the Patriots 478 to 332 in total offensive yards.
Franklin was 14 for 24 in passing for 159 yards and carried four times for 98 yards.
Worthy rushed for 114 yards on 18 carries, while Ray had three attempts for 74 yards.
Tow had six receptions for 90 yards, Alex Swafford caught four passes for 37 yards and Sparks had three receptions for 36 yards.
Gadsden City resumes Class 6A Region 8 play on Friday, Oct. 4 at Lee-Huntsville.
