At their most recent board meeting, the Etowah County Tourism Board voted to work with the Gadsden/Etowah Patriot’s Association to restore the Veteran’s Day parade on November 4, 2015.
“The Patriot’s Association approached us about partnering with them to help with communication, publicity and promotion, and overall administration/production of the parade,” said Hugh Stump III, executive director for the tourism board. “Our board felt our participation and involvement with the communities in the county with their festivals and events would give us the ability to keep lines of communication clear and help get the communities more involved in the parade.”
Applications are being designed at this time and committees are being formed to quickly begin the process of mapping out potential participants and beginning communications to quell the uncertainty for the 2015 parade that was caused by the cancellation of the 2014 parade.
As new details emerge, both organizations will utilize social media and press releases to facilitate information exchange.
“We would suggest those that use social media create and/or maintain social relationships with either or both organizations to stay up to date on developments,” Stump added.
