Trio of events coming to town Friday, Saturday

Broad Street will be buzzing this Friday and Saturday with classic cars, live music and food vendors.

First Friday will begin at 6 p.m. and directly following it will be the kick off of the Summer Concert Series.

Broad Street will be closed to automobile traffic at 4 p.m. Friday to allow for set up.

Entertainment will include The Gadsden Dreamcatchers at 2nd Street and Broad Street, Kevin Moore at 3rd Street and Broad Street, The Band Silhouette at 4th Street and Broad Street and Foggy Hollow at 5th Street and Broad Street. Foggy Hollow will be joined during the evening with some visitors picking their handmade cigar box guitars.

While First Friday is underway, the opening reception of the new “All That Remains” exhibit will be going on at The Gadsden Museum of Art from 5 – 8 p.m.

The Gadsden Artisan and Farmers Market at 701 First Avenue will be open from 3 p.m. until dark. Vendors there will be selling eggs, plants, honey and handmade goods.

The Summer Concert Series at the Amphitheater kicks off for the season with American Flyers playing R&B, soul and funk music. Both First Friday and the Summer Concert Series events are free to attend.

Those wishing to can come back Saturday at 10 a.m. to enjoy the all-day cigar box guitar event, Gadsden Music Fest, at the Mary G. Hardin Center for Cultural Arts.

When attending First Friday, event coordinators ask that attendees not bring pets, personal coolers or glass containers, skateboards or roller blades. Advertising and fundraising are also prohibited.
