The Westbrook Christian volleyball team extended its unbeaten record to 20-0 after winning the West End Invitational Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 7 in Walnut Grove.
In pool play, the Class 3A No. 2 Lady Warriors defeated Sand Rock, 25-14, 25-18; Good Hope, 25-22, 25-21; Fairview, 20-25, 25-18, 15-13; and Ashville, 25-23, 25-21.
Westbrook beat Good Hope in the semifinals, 25-21, 25-15 before posting a 25-14, 25-15 victory over Sardis in the championship match.
For the tournament for the Lady Warriors, Raylee Neal had 133 assists, 57 digs, eight aces and five kills; Marley Cox had 64 digs, 50 kills, two aces and two blocks; Landri Lipscomb had 40 kills, 28 digs, nine aces and six blocks; Kylee Wyatt had 41 digs; Ellison Stewart had 27 digs and 18 kills, Sara Cate Windle had 27 digs and four aces; Addi Hammontree had 21 kills, three aces and two blocks; Caroline Taylor had seven kills and three blocks; Reid Elam had five kills; and Elyse Neal had four digs.
Glencoe beat White Plains, 22-25, 25-15, 15-12 and Cleburne County, 25-14, 11-25, 16-14 in a tri-match on Sept. 5 at Glencoe. For the Lady Yellow Jackets (6-4), Mia Talbot had 18 kills, followed by Sadie Waldrop with 15, Ali Jo Amos and Ashlyn Stone with eight each, Kinlee Montgomery with four and Millie Chambless with tow.
Montgomery distributed 28 assists, while Avery Barkley dealt out 21. Talbot served up five aces, followed by Gracyn Bunt with four and Barkley and Kaelyn Hollis with two each.
Hollis came up with 35 digs, followed by Talbot with 16, Bunt with nine, Stone and Barkley with six each, Hollis and Montgomery with five each, Amos and Waldrop with four each and Chambless with two.
Hokes Bluff posted a 25-20, 25-12, 25-19 sweep over Gaston on Sept. 5 at Gaston. For the Lady Eagles, Mazely Ball had nine kills, followed by Sophia Jackson and Addison Simmons with five each. Mary Davenport dealt out 23 assists, while Makenna Bennich and Chloe Dodd each had three aces. Haylen Marbut came up with 16 digs.
Raylee Neal distributed 48 assists and Ellison Stewart delivered 18 kills as Westbrook Christian defeated West End, 21-25, 25-19, 15-13 and Appalachian, 25-9, 26-16 in a tri-match on Sept. 5 in Walnut Grove. Neal also had 10 digs and Stewart added 13 digs and three aces for the Class 3A No. 2 Lady Warriors (14-0). Also for Westbrook, Landri Lipscomb had 13 kills, four digs and three blocks; Marley Cox had 11 kill, 11 digs and two aces; Addi Hammondtree had eight kills, five aces and five blocks; Kylee Wyatt had 10 kills; and Elyse Neal had five sigs and two aces.
Gadsden State improved to 3-6 on the season with a 25-20, 21-25, 25-23, 14-25, 15-13 victory over Bevill State in Alabama Community College Conference action on Sept. 5 in Fayette.
For the Lady Cardinals, Savannah Hall had 16 kills, followed by Ella Garmany with 12, Kiley Tyler with 11, Ally Folsom and Kaleigh Butler with six each and Ryleigh Pack with four.
Emma Earl and Rylin St. Clair had 24 and 23 assists, respectively. Allie Bryant had two service aces.
Bryant came up with 26 digs, followed by Kinslee Gray with 13, Ellie Carden with nine, St. Clair and Hall with eight each, Earl with seven, Garmany with six and Folsom with three.
Gadsden State fell to Wallace State-Hanceville, 18-25, 16-25, 25-20, 18-25 on Sept. 4 at Beck Gymnasium.
For the Lady Cardinals, Kaleigh Butler and Makasia Crawford ach had six kills, followed by Ella Garmany with five and Kiley Turner and Ryleigh Pack with four each.
Rylin St. Clair distributed 19 assists, while Emma Earl had eight. St. Clair and Kinslee Gray each had three aces.
Allie Bryant came up with 17 digs, followed by Earl with eight, St. Clair with seven, Gray with six and Garmany with four.
