Westbrook back in soccer Final Four

Messenger file photo by Chris McCarthy

For the first time in five years, the Westbrook Christian girls soccer team will play a postseason game in Huntsville.
Anna Cate Edwards’ goal off a corner kick by Sarah Guffey was enough for the Lady Warriors in a 1-0 victory over Guntersville in the Class 4A/5A quarterfinals on May 7. Westbrook lost to Guntersville by the same score in last season’s quarterfinal round.
The 2017 Lady Warriors lost to Montgomery Academy in the state semifinals.
Westbrook (19-3) face East Limestone in the state semifinals on Thursday, May 12 at 3 p.m. at John Hunt Park. If they win, the Lady Warriors will play either Indian Springs or St. James in the championship match on Friday, May 13 at 7 p.m.
