Westbrook Christian defeated St. John Paul II Catholic, 42-27, in head coach Steve Smiths’ first game as Warrior head coach.
Quarterback Greyson Carroll finished with 317 combined yards and five touchdowns. He rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns and was 5-for-10 in passing for 140 yards and three TDs.
Cooper Greer caught three passes, all for touchdowns, for 101 yards. Drew Whittemore gained 77 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.
Read Barber was 4-for-4 in extra points and kicked a field goal.
Eggo Alabassi had nine tackles, followed by Max Legg and Noah Wright with six each and Jake Haney, Bo Kilgo and Jackson Ramsey with five each. Wright had two sacks, while Kilgo and Haney each had one. Nolan Terrell and Ethan Daffron each had an interception. Kilgo and Brody Blevins each recovered a fumble, while Ben Morrison blocked an extra point.
Westbrook has an open date this week before traveling to Class 3A Region 6 rival Ohatchee on Friday, Sept. 8.
