Westbrook Christian stormed out to a 41-20 halftime lead en route to a 62-28 win over Class 3A, Area 11 rival Ohatchee on Tuesday (Dec. 9) in Rainbow City.
The Warriors (5-3, 2-0) opened the game with a 12-0 run on and led 18-10 after one quarter.
Kyle Edwards’ basket with 1:30 left in the first half put the hosts up by 20 points, and Chandler Richards’ jump shot in the closing seconds of the third period made it 55-24.
The head coaches agreed to keep a running clock during the fourth quarter.
“We definitely came out ready to play tonight,” said Westbrook head coach Seth Ford. “I thought that our defense started well, and we shot the ball pretty well from the outside. When you combine those two things, that’s usually a combination for a pretty good game. We also shot well at the free throw line, which has not been the case for the majority of the year so far.
Kyle Leonard paced Westbrook with 14 points, followed by Richards and Boo Shirley with eight each.
Ben Glass led the Indians with six points.
