Westbrook sweeps Gadsden Area Golf Tournament

The Westbrook Christian boys and girls golf teams won the Gadsden Area Tournament on Monday and Tuesday (Apr. 11-12) at Twin Bridges and Silver Lakes. 

Led by individual first place winner John Hilliard Catanzaro, the Warriors finished with an overall score of 600. Catanzaro shot 140. He shot a 71 score at Twin Bridges and a 69 at Silver Lakes. Following Catanzaro for Westbrook was Harrison Martin (145), Will Wethington (156), J.P. Pirani (164) and Jackson Bowman (166). 

Hope Cone individual-best 164 score helped the Lady Warriors to an overall 508 score. Cone shot 76 score at Twin Bridges and 88 at Silver Lakes. Sydney Fairchild finished tied for second with a 172 score, followed by Ellie Porter (173) for third place and Gracie Guyton (184) for fifth. Glencoe’s Lauren Cole shot a fourth-place 174 score as an individual. 

In other boys action, Glencoe finished second with a 621 score. Brock McNeely tied for second individually with a 145 score, followed by Jack Sims (147), Ethan Womack (156), Andrew Lang (173) and Jeremiah Ward (179). 

Etowah took third place with a 656 score. Gage Ledbetter shot 152 for the Blue Devils, followed by Tee Brown (157), Eli Antisdale (174), Alex McFarland (177) and Austin Jenkins (178).

Gadsden City came in fourth with a 673 score. Ben Koury led the Titans with a 160 score, followed by Gavin Deck (162), Trey Perry (174), Seth Perry (179) and Barnes Stacy (182).

Fifth-place finisher Southside shot a combined 679, led by Andrew Oldman with a 156 score. Hayden Lee shot 166 for the Panthers, followed by Luke Boyd (175), Kaleb Yancey (184) and Devon Downs (186). 

West End came in sixth with a 740 score. Dalton Nichols paced the Patriots with a 160 score, followed by Payne Stancil (172), Nic Cline and Hunter Blanton (204) and Brennen Fleming (229). 

Hokes Bluff shot a combined 741. Leading the Eagles was Jeremy Black at 180, followed by Tucker Marsh (186), Cole Contis (187), Josh Jones (188) Ethan Whitcomb (249). 

Sardis shot a combined 903 score. Kyle Cone shot 207 for the Lions, followed by Daniel Rich (227), Kaleb Morgan (230) and Clay Cole (239). 

The girls runner-up was Gadsden City with a combined 744 score. Haley James shot 225 for the Lady Titans, followed by Audria Woods (233) and Ciara Jones (286). 

Third-place Etowah shot a combined 745 score. Miranda Nassif shot 224, followed by Courtney Wright (265), Carly Campbell (266) and Kaina Griffith (291). 

Southside finished fourth with a combined 767 score. Mackenzie Reavis shot 225, followed by Jordan Reavis (255), Adrianna Martinez (287) and Haley Gray (335). 

Competing as individuals were Hokes Bluff’s Amber Bigelow (242) and Abigail Reeves (286) and Sardis’ Zena Roden (266) and ivy Roberts (296).
