Westbrook Whips West End

Westbrook outscored West End 17-9 in the third quarter of Tuesday night varsity action en route to a 63-53 victory.

The Warriors and the host Patriots exchanged the lead for most of the first half before superb rebounding by Westbrook and tons of missed shots in the lane by West End in the third quarter took its toll.

Westbrook’s Jon Ford, Colin Edwards and Carson Sharp turned up the heat on the Pats in the third period. The Warrior trio out-rebounded and out-shot the hosts to build a lead the hosts could not overtake.

Westbrook led 19-14 at the end of the opening quarter. West End only managed three baskets in the second quarter, but made 8/11 (72%) free throws to chop the Warrior lead to 34-30 at halftime. Westbrook’s Ford and West End’s Caleb Mayo each turned in great second quarter performances, scoring 4 points and 9 points respectively. Both players played great defense.

West End made 15/23 (65%) free throws. Westbrook made 12/22 (54%) from the charity stripe.

Ford and Edwards each tallied 16 points to lead the Warriors, while Sharp notched 14.

West End’s Mayo led all scorers with 18 points and 10 assists. Dakota Nichols scored 11 points and big Raymond Chapman added 7.
