Westbrook wins section, sub state golf tournaments

The Westbrook Christian girls and boys golf teams won their sub state playoffs on Monday (May 8) at the Gadsden Country Club.
Both teams will compete in the state tournament next week at Grand National in Auburn.
The Lady Warriors were tops in 1A-3A, while the Warriors captured the 1A-2A title.
Hope Cone shot a low-medalist score of 74 to lead the Westbrook girls to the Class 1A-3A section 3 girls golf title on May 2 at Silver Lakes.
The Lady Warriors finished with a top-three overall score of 246. Ellie Porter followed Cone with an 85 score, followed by Sydney Fairchild at 87 and Gracie Guyton at 88. In individual play, Anna Nichols shot 122 and Lauren Weaver shot 125.
Glencoe finished second overall with a 342 score. Lauren Cole paced the Lady Yellow Jackets with an 80 score, followed by Abby Powell at 113 and Camryn Blackwell at 149.
