Yellow Jackets come up short against Saks

Glencoe came up short to No. 7 Saks, 39-28, in a Class 3A, Region 5 game on Friday (Oct. 4) in Anniston.  

Thomas Ozmint’s second touchdown run of the game gave the Yellow Jackets (3-3, 1-3) a 28-27 lead late in the third quarter, but the Widlcats (6-0, 4-0) returned an  an interception 81 yards for a touchdown to take the lead for good. 

Saks then scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to put the game away. 

Glencoe quarterback Dylan Stone threw a pair of touchdown passes, one to Logan Guest and another to Pace Ozmint. 

Ozmint finished with 212 rushing yards on 26 attempts, while Stone rushed 11 times for 41 yards.

Stone completed 8-of-18 passes for 140 yards. Andrew Land had four receptions for 61 yards.

Mason Brown had 17 tackles, followed by Pace Ozmint with nine and Taylor Daugherty with eight. Three of Daugherty’s tackles were for a loss.

Glencoe hosts Cleveland next week in another region game.
