Cothran’s Bakery to mark 50th anniversary

Usually, the one celebrating the anniversary gets the gifts, but when Cothran’s Bakery marks its 50th Sept. 15, the bakery staff will treat everyone else to special prices on sweet treats.

Etowah County Fair set for Sept. 18-22

Preparations are underway for the 73rd annual Etowah County Fair coming to the fairgrounds in Attalla Sept. 18-22. The 2012 fair promises all the traditional elements of the county fair – food, carnival rides and games, exhibits and entertainment. Etowah County’s fair is the second oldest in the state. Council, IDA Director discuss incentives for industry lead

Gadsden-Etowah Industrial Development Board Executive Director Mike McCain cannot disclose any information about an industrial prospect that is looking for a home, and may be looking at Gadsden.
McCain met in executive session Sept. 4 with members of the Gadsden City Council to get authorization on what incentives Gadsden can offer while trying to attract the industry.
