Gadsden City High hosts sports injury forum

Three of Northeast Alabama’s leading orthopedists gathered at the Gadsden City High School auditorium on July 25 to discuss sports injuries and the prevention thereof.

Local archers shine at national tourney
The Black Creek 4-H Arrow Slingers competed at the National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational in Grand Island, Neb., during the week of June 24-28. The group competed in the disciplines of Compound Archery and Hunting Skills. A total of 540 youth represented 35 states from around the country competed in the invitatioanl.

Wildhaven Swim Club hosts annual meet
Wildhaven Swim Club in Rainbow City, which is enjoying its 50-year anniversary this summer, hosted its annual swim meet against Scenic Highland Swim Club and Gadsden Country Club on July 25. After flying over the skies of Afghanistan and being carried on combat missions by members of the Alabama National Guard, an American and Alabama flag have returned home, where they were presented to House Minority Leader Rep. Craig Ford (D-Gadsden) on July 26.

The Gadsden Mall will host a Back-to-School Block Party from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 10 with activities for children and sidewalk sales.
