Toy and collectibles show and sale set for Sept. 7
Kids of all ages and collectors of most everything are invited to the Northeast Alabama Toys and Collectibles Show and Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 7 at Gadsden Convention Hall at 344 South 1st Street.

The Gadsden City Council announced a list of agencies that received federal money to help maintain their operations in the coming year.

Dragon racing on the Coosa River raises $50,000

The weather was mild Aug. 17, but the competition was fierce at the Gadsden-Etowah Habitat for Humanity second annual Dragon Boat Festival in Gadsden.
Thirty-three teams took to the Coosa River at the Gadsden Riverwalk, racing in heats to determine the fastest times.
Taking the Gold medal was Orthopedic Brutes, a team of representatives from Brute Fitness and Northeast
